The Breitling Avenger was built for jet pilots and made to be operated with gloves on — a rugged bezel, a grip-patterned crown, and on some versions stencil-style numerals borrowed from the deck markings of aircraft carriers. It's a tool watch in the most literal sense, and that's exactly why so many owners put it on rubber: a strap that shrugs off sweat, salt water and daily abuse suits this watch far better than a bracelet that rattles through it.
This guide covers the whole Avenger family — from the 42 mm automatics to the Super Avenger — and answers the two questions that matter: which size fits your watch, and which strap color actually works with your dial.
Which Strap Size Fits Your Breitling Avenger?
Ordering is simple: every strap in our Breitling Avenger collection is made per case size. On the product page you select your model — Avenger 42 mm, 43 mm, 44 mm, 45 mm, 46 mm or 48 mm — pick a buckle color, and you're done.
Here's the part most owners get wrong, so it's worth spelling out. You'd expect the lug width to grow with every case size. On the Avenger, it doesn't:
| Your Avenger | Lug width |
|---|---|
| Avenger 42 mm | 22 mm |
| Avenger 43 mm | 22 mm |
| Avenger 44 mm (incl. B01 Chronograph & GMT) | 22 mm |
| Avenger 45 mm (incl. Seawolf & Chronograph 45) | 22 mm |
| Super Avenger 46 mm | 24 mm |
| Avenger 48 mm | select "Avenger 48mm" on the product page* |
Everything from 42 mm to 45 mm shares the same 22 mm lug width — including the big 45 mm Seawolf, which Breitling's own specifications list at 22 mm. The jump to 24 mm only happens at the Super Avenger 46. That has a nice side effect: if you own more than one Avenger in the 42–45 mm range, one strap fits them all.
*For the 48 mm, simply choose that option on the product page. If you'd like to double-check your watch before ordering, measure the gap between the lugs or send us a message with your reference number — we'll confirm the right fit.
Built to Take a Beating
The Avenger line exists for one reason: to survive conditions that would ruin a normal watch. Cases run from steel to DLC-coated titanium and ceramic on the Night Mission versions, the Seawolf is rated to a frankly absurd 3,000 meters, and every detail — the ratcheted bezel, the oversized crown — is shaped so it can be used mid-flight with gloves on.
A rubber strap fits that brief perfectly. It's lighter than the bracelet, it doesn't care about salt water or sunscreen, and when it eventually wears out you replace it instead of mourning it — although with a lifetime warranty on our rubber straps, that part is covered anyway.
The Best Straps for the Breitling Avenger
The Avenger's dials do the talking — black, blue, khaki, anthracite, and the Seawolf's famous yellow — so the safest play is a strap that repeats a color already on the watch. These four are the combinations Avenger owners choose most.
1. Black Rubber – The Standard Issue
Most Avengers wear a black dial or a black ceramic bezel, and a black rubber strap for the Breitling Avenger is the closest thing to the watch's natural state. It's the pick that works on every single reference in the family — including the yellow-dial Seawolf, where black frames the dial exactly the way the factory intended. If you're buying one strap, it's this one.
2. Navy Blue Rubber – For the Blue Dials
Blue runs right through the Avenger range, from the Chronograph 45 to the current B01 models. On those watches a navy blue rubber strap keeps everything tonal — the watch reads as one design instead of a watch with an afterthought attached.
3. Green Rubber – The Military Option
This is one of the few watch families where green isn't a fashion statement — it's the point. The Night Mission versions ship with khaki dials and military-style straps from the factory, so a green rubber strap simply continues what the design already says. One of the most popular choices among Avenger owners, and deservedly so.
4. Grey Rubber – For Titanium and Anthracite
If your Avenger has an anthracite dial or a titanium case, a grey rubber strap picks up the metal's tone and keeps the whole watch quiet and technical. It's also the understated alternative to black for daily wear.
The collection also includes white and red for owners who want more contrast — worth a look, but on a watch this purposeful, the four above are the safe money.
Pick the Right Buckle
Every strap ships with a buckle included, and the finish is your choice on the product page: silver, gold, rose gold or black. Keep it simple — silver for stainless steel cases, black for the DLC and Night Mission models, gold or rose gold only if your Avenger actually carries gold elements. A matched buckle is what makes an aftermarket strap look factory-fitted.
Swapping Takes Seconds
All our Avenger straps come with integrated quick-release spring bars — no tools, no risk to your lugs. The first swap takes under a minute; after that it's seconds. At 120 mm + 80 mm, the strap fits the vast majority of wrists comfortably.
Backed for Life
Helvetus is one of the leading names in aftermarket straps for luxury watches, and every Avenger strap is cut for the specific case sizes of the model rather than adapted from a generic design. All rubber straps carry a lifetime warranty, shipping is free worldwide, and there are no import costs on any order — part of why more than 50,000 customers have trusted us with their watches.
