Swatch releases the Mission to EarthPhase Moonshine Gold in rhythm with the full moon — a new version tied to each named full moon of the year, on sale at selected stores only for the days around it, then gone. The August release marked the Sturgeon Moon. October's ran from the Hunter's Full Moon to the new moon. Others followed. They share the same navy Bioceramic case, the same white opaline dial and the same gold, and they differ in details you could cover with a fingernail: the motif lasered onto one of the two moons on the phase disc.
So if you own one, you don't just own a MoonSwatch. You own a date — and almost nothing on the outside says which.
The size: 20mm
This takes a 20mm strap, like every watch in the collection. Same case, same width, nothing to measure.

Swatch already agreed with us on this one
Here's what makes this reference different from every other page we've written about the collection, and it's worth saying plainly.
Most MoonSwatches ship on woven hook-and-loop fabric, and most of our guides spend a paragraph explaining why that's the weak point. This one doesn't ship on fabric. The Moonshine Gold EarthPhase comes on a navy rubber strap with a Velcro closure — the first time a gold-accented MoonSwatch got rubber instead of nylon, and a clear signal about what Swatch thinks belongs on its more serious releases.
Which settles the material question before we start. The argument isn't rubber versus fabric here; Swatch made that call. The argument is colour — and the factory offers exactly one. Navy case, navy strap, one look, every edition, all year.
That's the gap this page fills. On a watch whose versions are near-identical to each other and identical in strap, the band is the only thing that makes your example look like yours. It's also the only variable that costs less than another trip to a boutique on the right day.
One practical note. Bioceramic is hard but marks more easily than steel, and the case is a monobloc that can't be sent away for a tidy-up — so work on a soft cloth, keep the spring-bar tool square to the bar, and keep metal away from the case flanks.
The best straps for the EarthPhase Moonshine Gold
1. White and blue — the dial and the case, together
The pick cut for this watch, and the only one from its own collection. A white and blue strap puts both of the watch's two structural colours into the band — the white opaline of the dial and the navy of the case — so nothing new is introduced and the pairing already on the watch simply continues past the lugs. It's the most obviously right answer, and the one that looks considered rather than swapped.
2. Navy on navy — the factory colour, more of it
If you liked what Swatch chose, take more of it. A tone-on-tone blue strap turns the whole assembly into one uninterrupted navy object, which does something specific: with no break anywhere below the case, the white dial becomes a bright window and the gold on the phase disc becomes the only warm thing in sight. It's the most formal this watch looks.
3. Black — let the gold be the only bright thing
Gold reads richest against black; that's why jewellers use dark trays. A black rubber strap gives the two gold moons the darkest possible surround and quietens the navy at the same time, so the eye goes to the phase displays and stays there. It's also the pick that makes this watch wearable somewhere formal without any explanation at all.
4. White on white — side with the dial
The summer version, and the brightest. A tone-on-tone white strap extends the opaline dial rather than the case, which flips the watch into a light object with a navy ring around a white face. The gold reads warmer against white than against navy, and the whole thing loses about half its formality — which is sometimes exactly what you want from a watch with a cartoon on the dial.
